Cookie Policy
Last updated: 18.07.2026
This Cookie Policy explains how Film Distribution Group (hereinafter also referred to as “we,” “us,” “our,” or “Group”) uses cookies and similar technologies on its websites and online services. It applies to all companies within the Group, including their respective websites, in Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, and elsewhere, where applicable.
This Cookie Policy explains what cookies we use, why, and how you can control them. It should be read together with our Privacy Policy.
1. SCOPE AND APPLICABILITY
- This Cookie Policy applies to all websites and online services operated by Film Distribution Group companies, including but not limited to:
-
Estonian Theatrical Distribution OÜ (Estonia)
-
Latvian Theatrical Distribution SIA (Latvia)
-
Theatrical Film Distribution UAB and Dukine Film Distribution UAB (Lithuania)
-
Theatrical Film Distribution OÜ (mother company, Estonia)
- It should be read in conjunction with our Privacy Policy to understand how we collect, process, and protect personal data.
2. WHAT ARE COOKIES?
Cookies are small text files stored on your device (computer, smartphone, tablet) by websites you visit. They are widely used to make websites function properly or more efficiently, as well as to provide information to the site owners. Cookies allow websites to recognize your device and store certain information about your preferences or past actions. Similar technologies (such as pixels, local storage, and click identifiers in links) are covered by this Policy as well.
3. TYPES OF COOKIES WE USE
We categorize the cookies and similar technologies we use as follows:
-
Essential (Necessary) Cookies — required for our websites to operate properly: page navigation, access to secure areas, load balancing, e-commerce functions. These do not require consent.
-
Preference (Functional) Cookies — remember choices you make (such as language or region) and provide enhanced, more personalized features.
-
Analytics (Performance) Cookies — collect information about how visitors use our websites (e.g., which pages are visited most often). They help us measure and improve website performance.
-
Marketing (Advertising Measurement) Cookies — used to measure the effectiveness of our advertising campaigns, including click identifiers stored when you arrive from an advertising platform.
-
Third-Party Cookies — some pages include embedded content such as film trailers or social media features; the external provider may set its own cookies, which we do not control.
The main cookies and technologies currently in use on our websites:
| Cookie / technology | Category | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| ARRAffinity, ARRAffinitySameSite | Essential | Website hosting and load balancing (session routing) | Session |
| filmhq_consent | Essential | Stores your cookie consent choices on pages served on our consumer platform | 1 year |
| preferred_language | Preference | Remembers your language choice | 1 year |
| Google Tag Manager / Google Analytics (_ga, ga*) | Analytics | Website usage statistics via Google Analytics | Up to 2 years |
| _fhq_attr | Marketing (advertising measurement) | Stores the advertising click identifier (e.g., fbclid, ttclid, gclid) when you arrive from an advertising platform, together with the arrival time and any city/language parameters contained in the advertising link, to measure campaign effectiveness | Up to 90 days |
| Embedded video providers (e.g., YouTube) | Third-party | Set when you play an embedded trailer or video | Set by the provider |
4. HOW WE USE COOKIES
We use cookies and similar technologies to:
-
Ensure our websites function correctly and securely.
-
Remember user preferences (e.g., language, region).
-
Analyze website traffic and performance, helping us enhance user experience.
-
Measure the effectiveness of our advertising. When you arrive from an advertising platform, a click identifier is stored in a first-party cookie, and key events (such as viewing a film page) may be reported to the advertising platform concerned (Meta, TikTok, Google) directly from our servers; on pages that provide our cookie consent banner (for example film landing pages), this sharing follows the marketing-consent choice you make there. See also Section 11 of our Privacy Policy.
-
Facilitate secure payment or other essential e-commerce functionalities.
Unless otherwise stated, we do not use cookies to directly identify you by name. However, certain cookies may collect device or network data (such as IP address) that could be considered personal data under applicable law.
5. LEGAL BASIS
Essential cookies are used because they are strictly necessary for the operation of our websites; they do not require consent. All other cookies (preference, analytics, marketing) are placed or read only with your consent, as required by the laws implementing the ePrivacy Directive in Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania. You can withdraw your consent at any time, as easily as you gave it (see Section 6). Withdrawing consent does not affect the lawfulness of processing before withdrawal.
6. HOW TO MANAGE YOUR COOKIE PREFERENCES
- Cookie Consent Tool
Pages served on our consumer platform (for example film landing pages) show a cookie consent banner where you can give, refuse, or withdraw consent for each cookie category at any time. Where our other websites provide a consent banner or preference manager, it works the same way.
- Browser Settings
Most web browsers allow you to control cookies through the browser settings (accepting all cookies, rejecting all cookies, deleting existing cookies, or prompting you every time). For more information, refer to your browser’s “Help” section.
- Third-Party Cookies
If cookies are placed by third parties (e.g., embedded video providers, social networks), you may also need to manage them through those providers’ own tools.
Please note that if you choose to block or disable certain cookies, our websites may not function properly, and some features may be unavailable.
7. DATA SHARING AND INTERNATIONAL TRANSFERS
Within the Group: Information collected via cookies may be shared with the Film Distribution Group companies if needed for group-wide analytics or consolidated advertising campaigns, in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
Third Parties: We use third-party service providers (e.g., Google for analytics and advertising measurement; the platform providers named in Section 8 of our Privacy Policy) that may process cookie data on our behalf. If data is transferred outside the European Economic Area (EEA), we ensure appropriate safeguards: for United States providers certified under the EU–U.S. Data Privacy Framework (such as Google LLC), the European Commission’s adequacy decision applies; otherwise we use EU Standard Contractual Clauses.
8. DATA RETENTION
Cookies have varying lifespans. Session cookies expire when you close your browser; persistent cookies remain for the period shown in the table in Section 3 or until you delete them. We do not retain cookie-derived information longer than necessary for the relevant purpose. For more details on retention of personal data, please see our Privacy Policy.
9. SECURITY
We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect data stored in cookies. However, note that no system can be 100% secure, and you should also take precautions to protect your devices and networks (e.g., using anti-virus software, keeping software updated).
10. UPDATES TO THIS COOKIE POLICY
We may update or modify this Cookie Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our use of cookies or new regulatory requirements. Any changes will be effective immediately upon posting the revised Cookie Policy on our websites. We encourage you to review this page periodically for the latest information on our cookie practices.
